Friday August 31st
The launch of the inaugural Rennafix Adventure Festival – this action packed weekend starts with an outdoor cinema night, making your way there on bike or by foot.
Saturday September 1st
An early start and a Yoga Breakfast morning with Shells Café in Strandhill. Midday brings a test of fitness as the qualified mountain bike guides of Northwest Adventure Tours will lead you through the stunning Sligo wilderness. This 1-2 hour trip will take you over a variety of terrain including forest trails, open bog, country lanes and some fun and technical single track to keep you on your toes.
Arriving in Slish Wood, the group will find a new way of life and get up on Paddle boards and venture to Beezies Island for a late lunch time BBQ. Small boat ferries will also be available for those wishing to simply absorb the atmosphere of the island. Feel free to bring guitars or any other musical talents or entertaining abilities with you.
A remembrance mass for Paul will take place on the Saturday at 7:30pm in Carraroe church. Anyone who has thought of Paul over the last year is welcome to come along and show support for his family at this emotional milestone.
Sunday September 2nd
The Rennafix Group will re-launch the Lighthouse Swim in Rosses Point. This event, first dreamt of and executed against all odds by Paul in 2010, starts at the Yacht Club in Rosses Point at 11:30am. It is open to anyone willing to brave the open water, either swim it or bring your board and paddle out. Phase 1 will see the group swimming out to sea on the outgoing tide, reaching the lighthouse as the tide turns, bringing all participants back in to Rosses Point Beach in Phase II.
The Festival wraps up with a Paddle Out in Strandhill at 4pm, take a root through your shed and see if you can find that old surfboard or bodyboard, dust it off and get it wet again…
Prizegiving will be held in the Strand Bar at 6pm. The first award will be for the winner of the Lighthouse Swim, the second award which is the handcrafted ‘Havin’ a Laugh’ award will go to the person of the weekend who we feel most embodied the spirit of the festival.
