day one
Morning
Take a family Surf Lesson on Strandhill Beach with one of the five local surf schools. Learn about ocean safety, beach games and all about becoming a surf pro with top surf coaches.
Late Afternoon
Discover the beautiful Queen Maeve Trail on Knocknarea; this new trail ascends over 500 steps and opens out on to Knocknarea summit providing spectacular views across Sligo bay.
Evening Time
Beer and burger tasting at The Draft House – check out their craft beer tasting board paired with a superb chef’s burger.
day two
Morning
Carrowmore Megalithic Tomb is the largest cemetery of megalithic tombs in Ireland and is also among the country’s oldest, with monuments ranging from 5,000 to 5,800 years old. It’s located on the Strandhill/Coolera Peninsula and is open throughout the summer, right up to 31st October from 10am to 6pm.
Afternoon
Grab take away lunch from the Strandhill People’s Market which is runs every Sunday from 11am to 4pm. From delicious sushi, pizza, paella, pastas, burritos, burgers, homemade ice-cream, crepes, noodles, cupcakes, breads and cheeses, you are sure to find a tasty lunch!
Late Afternoon
Take the Killaspugbrone Walking Trail and go for a swim on Killaspugbrone Beach – make sure to bring sunscreen!
Evening Time
Cosy up in The Strand Bar and order in a round of tasty oven-baked pizzas and watch the sun melt over the Wild Atlantic Way at sunset with a 99
day three
Morning
Strandhill is all about wellbeing and relaxation and attracts many people throughout the year looking to chill out. Take a morning yoga class with your family at Salt & Soul Yoga Studio, or book Mum and Dad in for a well deserved seaweed bath in Voya Seaweed Baths.
Afternoon
Discover the seal colony at Culleenamore with a guided kayak tour. Paddle along the southern slopes of majestic Knocknarea mountain and see the grave of legendary Queen Maeve of Connaught, from the water.
Evening Time
Round up your family and head to The Venue on the Top Road under Knocknarea. One of Strandhill’s longest running restaurants, it’s a firm favourite with families. Make sure to try their surf and turf dish, and remember that each Friday is steak night!
