The Strandhill People’s Market, which is dedicated to supporting locally owned businesses, returns for #Phase3, on Sunday 1st March from 11am- 4pm.
The market has gone from strength to strength since its launch date in May 2014 on the beachfront in Strandhill. During the summer months the market took place behind The Strand Bar and against the backdrop of the Atlantic ocean.
During the winter months the market moved indoors to Hangar 1 at Sligo Airport. This unique space offered traders an opportunity to reach their target market even when the inclement weather prevailed.
After an incredibly successful Christmas season the market is now set to return to Hangar 1 with a brand new set up and some new added features. The market is made up of local arts, crafts and artisan foods. Over the Christmas season the market proudly attracted over 4,000 people per week.
In addition to supporting local businesses, the market also provides a platform for local musicians to showcase their musical skills. The ‘Buskers Corner’ has featured up and coming talents including Tom Eaton, Peter Mooney, Rory and Stephen O’Dowd, Sarah Crummy and Jessie Whitehead.
Sligo’s most loved and respected musicians Seamie O’Dowd, Tabby Callaghan and Eoin Troy will take to the stage to mark the launch of #Phase3 this coming Sunday.
The market provides a family atomosphere to meet a friend for a coffee, buy and support local crafters or simply enjoy the incredible live music – check out more images here.
