The Strandhill People’s Market is back with a bang in their new indoor location at Sligo airport. After an incredibly successful first season on the beachfront, which saw over 100 individual stalls sell their unique goods, the organisers have decided to go one step further and recreate the family friendly atmosphere indoors for the Christmas season.

The market will run every Sunday up until the 21st of December in Hangar 1 in the airport. Starting at a later time of 12pm and running until 4pm each week, the market promises to have something for everyone with a mix of local foods, baked goods, meat, fish and crafts. As with the summer market, entertainment will be provided by local talented musicians and buskers. The organisers are asking any schools choirs, buskers or individual musicians who want to get on board to get in contact via e-mail.

Over the six weeks, the market will become a meeting place for locals to sit, mingle, have a coffee and most importantly to shop local for the Christmas Season. According to one of the market organisers Allan Mulrooney “The People’s Market is a platform for local producers, creators, makers and doers to showcase their work and sell their produce. We are excited that Sligo Airport has provided us with the opportunity for Phase 2 after the Byrne brothers in The Strand Bar helped to make the market such a success earlier in the year. Everybody should come down and support local this Christmas. By doing so you are helping more than just that individual stall holder, you are helping the whole of your community”.

Any stall holder who wishes to take part needs to email strandhillmarket@gmail.com, but places are limited and booking up fast. Week 1 is already sold out and there are only a small number for the other 5 Sundays.
