Featuring some of the best point breaks, slabs and reefs in the world, Sligo will host the Surf Summit this 6-8 Nov, welcoming hundreds of delegates from the Web Summit with talks, networking opportunities, free gigs and more.
A spin off of the global tech conference Web Summit, taking place in Dublin during the first week in November, the Surf Summit will see a number of the attendees visit Sligo. Over the weekend, they will experience the best Sligo has to offer across adventure sports, culture, food and music against the backdrop of Sligo’s stunning beaches, lakes and mountains. Inspiring talks from some of the world’s biggest names in surfing will also take place throughout the weekend. Tickets for the event are currently on sale from the Web Summit site.
A growing list of investors, tech CEOs and startups from around the world will converge on Sligo for the weekend including Peggy Johnston, Executive Vice President of Microsoft, Joanna Weidenmiller, CEO of 1-Page, Adam Berke, CMO of Adroll and Bay McLaughlin, Co-founder of Brinc. Speakers for the weekend’s events include big wave surfer Gareth MacNamara, surf legend Pauline Ado and activist and surfer Easkey Britton. Live music all weekend
Over the weekend, a number of events are open to the pubic including a whole host of free live music gigs hosted across Sligo’s best live music venues. To warm things up, festivities for the Surf Summit kick off with Cornish singer-songwriter Ruairri Joseph performing at The Draft House in Strandhill on Thursday night.
Sligo town will be the place to visit on Friday night with music lined up across eight bars, followed by Sligo’s favourite Oddsocks Revival performing on Saturday night in Strandhill. On Sunday, UK Pro Surfer and Model Corinne Evans (@CorinneEvans) will host a yoga-surf workshop in Strandhill with Perfect Day Surf School and yoga teacher Mary McDermott.
